18 Holes and still smiling

I just played 18 holes at Chilworth Golf Club. Mike and I had won it in a charity auction ages ago. after a shaky start (the first 4 or 5 holes) I warmed up and was hitting fairly straight, fairly consistantly off the tee, although there were still times I was hunting around in the rough (and very long rough it was too). My best moment was on the 11th hole (170 yards, par 3) where I got a par after my tee shot landed on the green. Now off to a BBQ, so had better go...

Tankerton Beach

We went to visit our friends Steve and Julie this weekend. Yesterday we spent the afternoon on Tankerton Beach, which looks out over the Thames Estuary. It was extremily hot (for England) but it didn't stop us playing petanque on the grass above the beach - and I won! We also had fish and chips and an ice cream. Could we have BEEN any more English? Anyway, click here to see the photos on flickr.

New photos!

I said I would, and I have. Click on the link to our Flickr site on the right hand side to see some photos of the River Hamble, our back garden and a apricot, Almond and ricotta cake. Mmmm...

World Cup Fever!

It's nearly started! the wait is almost over. I hope any Canadians reading this will be supporting England. We went to a World Cup qualifier while in Vancouver. Canada were playing Costa Rica and needed to win to stand a chance of qualifying. Needless to say, they didn't. But Costa Rica did - they're playing Germany today in the opener! Not much else to report really. Sorry I haven't posted any photos lately. I will try to recify this soon. I am also working (very slowly) on a new version of thebartons.net which will incorporate the blogger blog and flickr photos onto the front page, but will look unique and have additional content as well. Very exciting! Problem is, its all hot and sunny here at the moment, not the best motivation for sitting atthe computer writing html code!

New Month, New urh...

1st June already - time moves so fast. Before we know it we'll have been back here a year. It already seems liek a dream, not quite sure any more whether it was real or not.
Anyway, we eventually finished painting our bedroom the other day which meant we could put the bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers in their correct places at last - hurrah! Suddenly we have more space as everything's not stuck in the middle of the room any more.
And hopefully we're going to book up a skiing/ snowboarding holiday soon, to Slovenia. With Steve, Julie, Miek and May. Very exciting. I won't haveseen on the snow since Whistler, which will have been two years by the time we get out there in February.
