Another week with no new painting done

We were at our church away weekend last weekend, which was excellent, and this week just don't seem to have had an evening spare to really get down to finishing off the painting. Cupboards and beds etc are still pulled out from the wall in a desparate attempt to motivate ourselves. Its obviously not working.
Steph's brother (Tim) and girlfriend (Natalie) are coming down tomorrow, so if it rains, maybe they can help paint! If not, I guess we'll have to go out somewhere. Actually, the world's biggest ocean liner is due in at Southampton tomorrow and I think there are fireworks down in the city centre in the evening, so we might check them out.
I have also created a new photo site at flickr, so you can check that out too. The three flower photos are from Fairthorne Manor, Botley, where we were for Church Away Weekend.

Photos from France

This isn't where we stayed. We stayed in a small tent in the garden. Well, a chalet anyway.

Ah, beautiful France, as it should be.

Arras, as seen from its belfry. Quite windy up there.

Steve, Julie and Steph. Looking a little blue.

Steph found this beetle in a forest and I took its picture. What a team!

We visited the Somme on Easter Sunday and saw some of the hundreds of cemmetaries. Quite fitting really for Easter Day.

Easter Weekend in France

We spent the Easter weekend in France with our friends Steve and Julie. I will post some pics soon. We ate some good food, wandered round some old towns, offended a perfectly friendly local frenchman and visited some of the WW1 cemmetaries in the Somme.

Now the carpets are down we're trying to motivate ourselves to finish off the last of the painting - basically the edges. It would be nice to get the lounge finished ASAP so we can start making ourselves at home properly.

See ya later...

Photos of Carpets!

Here are a few photos of the change of carpet!

1. Old carpet gets ripped up. Claire, a friend of Steph's gave a helping hand.

2. The industrial look. The lounge is naked!

3. Close up of newly installed carpet. A joy to behold.

It occurs to me that I should have taken a photo of a room with the new carpet in! Oh well, I will, in time!

New Paint and Carpet

Hi. Firstly, sorry for the delay in writing. I'm trying to make it at least once a week but this time things at home and work have been very busy.

Anyway, we are currently in the middle of having new carpets fitted! I'm sheltering in our bedroom which has just had its new carpet laid, but I can still hear the bangs etc of the fitters as the rest goes down. We have tried to complete as much of the painting as possible before today and largely suceeded. I think 99% of the rollering is done, but a fair few edges still need doing. So far then, new carpet looks fab and I love that smell!
